Review Policy Conference (Austria)
The national policy conference organized by CBE project partner EEE took place on November 4th 2011 in the Güssing Technology center. Numerous of interested regional and local politicians, entrepreneurs and stakeholders seized opportunity for information and updating in the scope of Austrian renewable energy policy.
EEE’s CEO Reinhard Koch introduced the regional energy strategy planning in the model region of ökoEnergieland. The CBE policy conference offered also an overview of regional and national general conditions and funding programs regarding bioenergy projects. Experts from the Province government of Burgenland, the Burgenland energy agency, the “Klima&Energiefonds” (State Ministry of Enviroment), Kommunal Kredit Public Consulting (State funding organization) and the WIBAG (provides services to business in Burgenland) were presenting and discussing about the current status of Austrian bioenergy policy.
Verena Dunst, member of the provincial government of Burgenland underlined in her inaugural address the importance of implementing renewable energy projects as a driving force for regional development especially in times of the financial crisis.
DI Dr. Klaus Frühmann (Kommunal Kredit Public Consulting, State Funding Organization) emphasized the fact that the province of Burgenland is far behind compared to other Austrian provinces when it comes to claim public renewable energy funding. To change this fact is a challenge for the future.
