Within the COACH BioEnergy project detailed descriptions of several biomass related technologies are to be developed by specialists. The generally 10-15 pages long, equally formatted colourful descriptions show the theoretical background, the practical implementation and the costs of the different technologies in detail, moreover they give practical recommendations to people interested in certain technologies based on former experiences. In addition, all technology descriptions are completed by a sustainability assessment, which besides evaluating the environmental effects of the concrete technology also provides information about the social aspects and the possible threats and adverse effects as well.

Altogether 43 technology descriptions are to be developed during the project period, which can be divided into three main groups: production, provision and conversion. These groups include further topics that are presented in Figure 1.
