Reconstruction of the central boiler room for the housing estate Družba in the town of Brumov-Bylnice
Name:
Reconstruction of the central boiler room for the housing estate Družba in the town of Brumov-Bylnice
Location (settlement, country):
Brumov-Bylnice, Zlín region, Czech Republic
Brief description of the technology:
The reconstruction of the housing estate boiler room was mainly due to the continuous increase of natural gas price and the associated costs of heat. Originally 4 boilers for natural gas (type KDVE 1700) with power of 4 x 1,7 MW and a boiler for mixed wood with power of 1 MW were installed in the boiler room. The boiler from mixed wood was a prototype without any regulations, therefore it was not possible to talk about the real efficiency of the boiler. Mainly wood chips were used as fuel in the amount of 3000 stere (=wood cubic meter) per year.
Technical solution
After the reconstruction two boilers for wood chips with a shifting grate from the producer BIOPAL Technology (type HRK 1000 and HRK 2000) with flue gas recirculation, with nominal capacity of 1 MW and 2MW are used as main sources. In case of the failure of the wood chips boilers and in operation tests (once in two months) a natural gas boiler KDVE 1200 with a nominal capacity of 1,2 MW is used as a backup source.
Wood chips and sawdust with water content up to 20% are used as fuel. Fuel is stored in the open and closed storage space. Open storage has a capacity of 1000 stere, and closed storage has a capacity of 4500 stere. The handling of the woodchips is provided by a loader. Why is it a „Best practice”:
Biomass boilers are one of the possible variants of high ecological heating solutions with convenient economic costs and environmental impacts. This is the reason, why is the reconstruction of this boiler room covered in Best Practice.
