Coach BioEnergy in Kujawsko-Pomorski region (Poland)
Kujawsko-Pomorski Agricultural Extension Centre (KPODR) in Minikowo, as one of the Regional Consultancy Bureaus (RCB) within Coach BioEnergy project, is focused on developing a Regional Energy Strategy Planning (RESP) study in Sadki commune, Poland. Sadki is a small, mainly agricultural commune situated in Kujawsko-Pomorski province with over 7000 inhabitants.
With the organization of public events participants had the opportunity to find out what Coach BioEnergy Project has to offer and how the region will benefit from RESP. Every single event organized for the purpose of preparing RESP increases interest of the commune inhabitants in renewable energy sources. During one of such events a heated discussion among farmers, members of the commune council, entrepreneurs and other inhabitants of the commune took place on how to substitute fossil fuels with resources from the region, which was triggered by presentation of Mariusz Stolarski from UWM. Mr. Stolarski presented numerous examples of good practices in northern Poland.
Another, good exchange of experiences within renewable energy sources took place on the Energy Forum in Przysiek. During that event Christian Keglovits from Europaisches Zentrum fur Erneuerbare Energien in Güssing, one of Coach BioEnergy Project’s partners, presented how Güssing region (Austria) made themselves independent of fossil fuels. In addition to that he focused on steps which are necessary while conducting RESP.
The meetings proved that it is necessary to show to the public different examples of use of renewable resources to make them aware that changes in energy and heat production are also possible in their area.
KPODR with assistance of other Coach BioEnergy partners, namely the Institute for Fuels and Renewable Energy in Warsaw (IPiEO), Univeristy of Warmia and Mazury in Olsztyn (UWM) and the Silesian Agricultural Extension Centre in Częstochowa (SODR) has started the preparation of RESP for Sadki in April 2010. The whole process is being coordinated and supervised by Szent Istvan University in Godollo, Hungary.
