Bioenergy use to expand in Poland
New laws and green certificate schemes encourage the use of energy crops and agricultural residues.
Poland has recently set new laws and green certificate schemes to encourage the utilisation of bio energy in Poland. According to the recent biomass for electricity law the percentage of forest biomass to be used in 2010 for electricity production in co-firing plants is limited to 75%. The current law requires at least 95% of forest biomass out of all biomass fuels used. Due to the new legislation from now on at least 15% of biomass fuel should come from energy crops and various agricultural residues.
